Cutting a Long Story Short…
I was the winner of the biggest batik competition in Malaysia – the Piala Seri Endon in Fashion Category in 2012. I was also awarded the Golden Hand Award by the Prime Minister of Malaysia in 2009, and the Young Craft Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018.
My love for batik making art is deeply ingrained. I started Bujin’s Academy in Kelantan, Malaysia to teach rural folks especially the young, the arts of batik making. As a result, my students managed to reach the final stage of Piala Seri Endon in 2013, 2014, 2015 and most recently in 2016, they won the 1st prize in handicraft, 2nd place in soft furnishing and 3rd place in fashion category. It was the best achievement for any batik academy in Piala Seri Endon, EVER.
My Mission is now to become an Adiguru in Malaysian Batik, and to produce more beautiful and memorable batik pieces. At the same time, I would like to help more batik makers to grow and keep our own heritage intact.
